Blankexpression

Friday, January 28th, 2011

Fantastic opening night of Blankexpression last night. As usual with exhibition openings, little opportunity to actually look at much of the art. The place was absolutely crammed. At one point people were having trouble getting in through the door, and couldn’t find the stairs. I really hope that Blankspace will become a really exciting addition to the visual arts scene in Manchester. It looks like it has the potential to do fantastic stuff!. The place, the exhibition, the whole project is a real credit to Mark Devereaux and the Blankmedia team.

BlankExpression2011

Once again horrified to see the length of time since my last post. So….. just before Christmas I had some work (aspects of self/land/scapes) selected for exhibition in the forthcoming Blankspace exhibition curated by Blank Media artists collective ManchesterBLANKSPACE

This has been a really exciting point on my journey of creating my own work, and I’ll be off shortly to meet with the curators to install the work. The catalogue also looks excellent, and indicates a really diverse exhibition.

The process of getting the work produced has been really interesting, and something of a learning curve. It will be interesting to take it to the next stage with installation, and seeing my work fit into the exhibition as a whole. I’ve already made some decisions about how the work SHOULD have been presented, but then I expect that will always be the case….
