Getting to grips with it all

Monday, February 15th, 2010

For some reason I’m finding managing the blog a bit of a struggle. I can post images, but then appear to be unable to post text which (hopefully) explains the image.

Spent this morning working with Anne Worthington. Our second session together, where Anne, a great photographer has been trying to explain the intricacies of my camera. I could of course read the instruction book, but it seems to have been written by an alien life form, with no concessions made to the less technical amongst us (i.e. me). I feel that I made a lot of progress, and Anne was very flattering about what I’d managed to accomplish. Hopefully some of the results will be visible somewhere on this site. Hopefully it will be useful on the Pendle Vale College Project, where I’m continuing to try to explore making self portraits with the year 10 boys. I mounted these photos inside the house, as a kind of preparatory sketch or starting point for further work.

Going live…..

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Day one of my new website going live, and the blog to go alongside it. I’m hoping that this will be an opportunity to talk about work I’m currently doing, and to engage with others doing similar (or indeed completely different work) we’ll see where it goes.

The picture above I took last week. I’m working on a project with some students at Pendle Vale College, Lancashire, and we’re doing some work on exploring identity using self portraits.
